Why did I create 5-ZL?

Here's My Story...

Even though I am a two-time USAT National Champion...

I was worn-down from feeling guilty for not training enough…then, feeling burned out from training too much and getting injured.

I was exhausted from not having the willpower to eat in a way that helped reach my racing goals.

I found myself dreading workouts because I was mentally tired.

Emotionally, I started to hate the very thing I loved!

So, I took the well-known five heart rate zones (you know, you see the zones on posters in almost every gym) and expanded them extensively to cover my whole lifestyle and mindset.

The 5-ZL Grid shows you exactly how you should LIVE and THINK depending on where you are in your racing season.

Each zone spells out your exact approach to training, food, your willpower and mental focus.

  • finished multiple 140 mile Ironman triathlons (including the Hawaiian Ironman)
  • competed in and finished two ultra-marathon 50 mile running races
  • became a 13-time USA Triathlon All-American and have taken first-place overall in 35 triathlons
  • earned All-American status as a duathlete
  • qualified for Triathlon Team USA five times
  • raced for the USA in Germany, Australia and in London, England (finishing 6th in the world, and 1st of all the U.S.A. athletes in my age group).
